All Republican candidates and Republican constitutional office holders are herein encouraged to join your Republican Party supporters this coming Saturday, July 26, at 10:30 AM, at our Republican Headquarters, 212 West Main Street, Tavares, for a short celebration of the campaign season and for a collective effort to focus the media and our Lake County Community on our party and the strength of our Republican candidates and elected officials.
On Saturday we are staging an official opening of our Republican Campaign Headquarters in Lake County for the 2008 Elections. We will have a short ribbon cutting ceremony accompanied by photo ops and some coffee and donuts! I wish to respectfully request that all our candidates and our elected officials give us just 20 minutes on Saturday morning to show your support for your Party and help us attract the media's attention to our strong slate of local, state and national candidates!
I would like to cover the street in front of our Republican Headquarters in Tavares with yard signs from every Republican candidate for any and all offices! I hope every candidate will give us a few minutes Saturday, bring your yard signs, join the picture and share your campaign with the Community! Plan, also, to stock the Tavares Republican Office with literature depicting your platform. We are getting many walkins looking for information on all of your campaigns!
Following this Grand Opening, the Tavares Republican Office will be open five days a week through the Presidential Campaign! Help us represent you well!
If you have any questions, please give me a call, Alan Winslow, Chairman of the Campaign Committee, Lake County Republican Executive Committee, 352-742-9953. Confirmation of your participation would be appreciated. Please feel free to acknowledge your participation to the above Email address.
I hope you will share this invitation with all your campaign workers, with other candidates, and with all our fellow Republicans of Lake County! Remember just 20 minutes of your time is all we ask!
Look forward to seeing all of you on Saturday!
A. Winslow

Why am I a Republican ?
I Believe... The proper function of government is to do for the people those things that have to be done but cannot be done, or cannot be done as well, by individuals, and that the most effective government is government closest to the people.
I Believe... Good government is based upon the individual and that each person's ability, dignity, freedom, and responsibility must be honored and recognized.
I Believe... The free enterprise and the encouragement of individual initiative and incentive have given this nation an economic system second to none.
I Believe... Sound money management should be our goal.
I Believe... In equal right, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, age, sex or national origin.
I Believe... We must retain those principles of the past worth retaining, yet always be receptive to new ideas with an outlook broad enough to accommodate thoughtful change and varying points of view.
I Believe... The Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION
Absence of party labels confuses voters; a voter who must choose from among a group of candidates who he or she knows nothing about will have no meaningful basis in casting a ballot; In absence of party ballot, voters will turn to whatever cue is available, and often this cue turns out to be the ethnicity of a candidate's name;Non-partisanship tends to produce elected officials more representative of the upper socioeconomic strata than of the general populace and aggravate the class bias in voting turnout, namely because in true non-partisan systems there are no organizations of local party workers to bring the general populace of citizens to the polls on election day.Non-partisanship destroys resources important to coalition building and effective governance.Partisan elections have advantages.
Partisanship is part of politics even when not officially recognized. Parties can help candidates run better campaigns. Party affiliation conveys information to voters, who for the most part do not have time to evaluate the effectiveness or distinguish the claims of each candidate. This is especially important for voters who without a party cue would be less likely to identify their stakes in the outcome of an election.
